SolarEdge opens 2-GWh battery cell factory in S Korea
May 26 (Renewables Now) - Israel-based inverter supplier SolarEdge Technologies Inc (NASDAQ:SEDG) has launched initial operations at a 2-GWh factory for battery cells in South Korea, expecting to ramp up production in the second half of this year.
The Sella 2 facility, located in the Eumseong Innovation City of North Chungcheong Province, is planned to produce battery cells for SolarEdge’s residential solar-attached batteries and for various industries, including mobile applications, energy stationary storage solutions (ESS) and UPS applications, the Israeli firm said on Thursday.
SolarEdge and its subsidiary Kokam are currently making test cells for certification at the new site.
