The North East's largest, the Metrocentre, is a good option for those who need a lot of variety under one roof. With everything from fast food to all you can eat buffets to champagne bars, there's no shortage of choice in the Gateshead retail complex. However, a food hygiene rating could make or break your choice of where to eat. The Cresswood festive bake from Aldi is a frozen heat at home product, and you get two for just 99p - while Greggs are currently charging £1.80 for one festive bake of their own. So we grabbed a Festive Bake from each Greggs and Aldi, pitting the two up against one another. All change at Whitley Bay’s revamped Cafe 19 after Cullercoats Coffee Co. take over beloved venue

The news was announced in October that Cullercoats Coffee Co. had taken over the popular seafront venue Cafe 19, with the new owners undergoing a £225,000 refurbishment to give the venue a major makeover before the grand reopening in November. Cafe 19 is the fourth venue from the Cullercoats company, with others having popped up across the coast in Cullercoats, Tynemouth , and most recently in the form of a French-style bistro elsewhere in Whitley Bay which opened its doors in August . The new owners have decided to keep the original Cafe 19 name to honour the beloved venue’s standout reputation in the town, but the menu has been revamped to offer something completely new. One of the biggest differences that sets the new venue apart from its namesake is that the Cullercoats Coffee Co. take on Cafe 19 now offers an evening dining menu. The family team are currently eyeing up the final jewel in the Cullercoats Coffee crown at North Shields Fish Quay - so there’s likely much more to come from the Tyneside business next year.

Thu. 8:48 a.m.: North Korea keeps up its missile barrage with launch of ICBM

Senior North Korean military official Pak Jong Chon said the allies would regret their “irrevocable and awful mistake,” but did not specify what the North would do in response. South Korea said the short-range missiles traveled about 330 kilometers (91 miles), falling closer to North Korea’s eastern coast. The Japanese government initially feared North Korea fired a missile over its northern territory but later adjusted its assessment. North Korean missile activity is a particular concern in Niigata, which is home to seven reactors at the Kashiwazaki-Kariwa nuclear power plant. North Korea has been ramping up its weapons demonstrations to a record pace this year.

Voodoo Doughnut, the Portland-based doughnut shop known for its selection of more than 50 flavors including the Bacon Maple Bar, opened at 1301 N. Fry Road in Katy. Scent Hound, a membership-based dog grooming franchise focused on pet wellness, leased 1,050 square feet in Barkers Crossing, 12361 Barker Cypress, Cypress. Fashion House signed a lease for 8,800 square feet at the Loop Center at South Main and Buffalo Speedway. It will be the women’s apparel and accessories store’s fifth Houston location. Labor Source staffing agency leased 1,800 square feet in the Hollister Pointe Shopping Center, at 13147 Northwest Freeway.
