Early 20th-century capitalist powers-that-be hated and feared United Mine Workers of America union organizer Mary Harris “Mother” Jones. Make room for another labor leader, Randi Weingarten. That’s the American Dream!”Of course, unions are the American nightmare to Pompeo, Trump and just about every Republican nowadays. Weingarten is a democratically-elected union president. If Weingarten commands any soldiers, sailors, airmen and marines, I’ve never seen any of them at union meetings.
It reported a protest of thousands of South Koreans who fear war between the US and China will impact them. In a 2019 referendum, over 72% voted against construction of a new US military base, and last month Governor Denny Tamaki was re-elected on a platform opposing the base. Yoshikawa highlighted the massive local opposition to the bases and underscored the importance of upholding the principle of democracy and environmental justice in Okinawa. DSA helped organize US signers and has committed to fight to close US foreign military bases and demand reparations for the human and environmental destruction they’ve caused. The US now has 375,000 Indo-Pacific Command personnel scattered across hundreds of military bases in the west Pacific.2 months ago LA Progressive

While the above measures are intended to isolate China and limit its growth, there is a downside for the United States and its allies in sanctioning China. Their purpose is very similar to what the United States has now introduced for the semiconductor industry. So why has the United States started a chip war against China at a time that its ability to win such a war is limited? When high-end Japanese shokupan (milk bread) bakery Ginza Nishikawa opened its first U.S. location in a Los Angeles ghost kitchen this past July, the $18 loaves sold out almost immediately everyday through an online ordering system. The milk bread craze may have something to do with Ginza Nishikawa’s popularity in Japan. Okubo imagined a brick-and-mortar location when she initially planned to open the LA bakery, but the pandemic changed her plans. “When I open the bag and take a whiff of the freshly baked loaf, it is heaven,” says Kim.
