One of the world's biggest football sticker collections to be exhibited in Cork this week

A unique exhibition of football stickers — the craze that swept the world during the glory days of Ireland’s involvement in the World Cup — is set to kick off a wave of nostalgia and stir great memories this weekend. The ‘Chasing the Ball’ exhibition features Gianni’s incredible display of football stickers, albums, cards and materials focusing on the Irish and Italian football teams from Italia 1990, USA 1994, and South Korea/Japan 2002. IIC director, Marco Gioacchini, said they hope the exhibition connects the Italian and Irish passion for football. “As the Football World Cup 2022 is approaching, we thought it would be a great opportunity to celebrate Irish-Italian friendship by a common exhibition featuring both countries at the World Cup,” he said. The event is supported by the Embassy of Italy to Ireland, and the Ambassador of Italy, Ruggero Corrias, will attend the launch on Sunday with the Lord Mayor of Cork, Deirdre Forde.

Restaurant review: This was easily the best Korean fried chicken I’ve tasted

K-Pop is everywhere, you have likely seen Squid Game and the Oscar-winning movie Parasite, and and have tasted Kimchi and K-FC (Korean fried chicken) which are a common sight on even Western restaurant menus these days. I know I’m supposed to prefer thighs (and I often do), but when breast is cooked this well and retains its moisture I think it is even better - this was easily the best Korean fried chicken I’ve tasted. Kimchi Fried RiceButter-Kimchi Fried Rice (€18.50) was warming and almost meaty tasting with the kimchi cutting through complex rice flavours while the soft-fired egg added extra texture. I’m waiting for some Korean restaurant to offer some of those fish-shaped ‘Bungeoppang’ pastries filled with red bean paste. Korean Table is a must-visit - there is heart and warmth in the cooking and in the welcome, no shortcuts are taken, and the food is simply joyous.
